Christmas 2007

Well all, Santa was good to me this year, as he was to Lucas.

I suppose that the best suprise was about my digital camera that I got. Lucas ordered it and a printer. Well, he kept getting e-mails from the place that he ordered it from saying that there was a delay in shipping. I figured that I wouldn't be getting my camera for Christmas and yea, I was whining and having a pitty party about it, but I knew that it was coming. Well, there was one present under the tree that said it was from Santa and it was actually the first present that showed up for me under the tree. Well, it was the last one that I opened and it turned out to be my camera. I was so shocked and happy! Turns out that the shipping delay was for the printer, not the camera. Lucas had me fooled the whole time.

I got a Canon SD1000 and it is NICE! Very user friendly but still smart. Also takes great pictures in my opinion. I'll have some on here later on in the post.

I suppose that the next best gift that I got was my Dooney & Bourke bag.

I have been drooling over one of these $$$ bags for a while and Grandpa made it happen for me. (With some help from Mom)

Here is my family with the handbag...heehee

Grandpa, Mom, Me and Dad. We put the picture in there as a joke and beacuse I wouldn't put it down.

I also got a beautiful pink sapphire heart shaped ring from Mom and Dad, some CD's, a movie and clothes...It was a great christmas. Lucas's parents got me a playstation 2 game called Dance Dance Revolutions Supernova and it is a hoot! Good way to fool yourself into exercising too!

Lucas got a new computer and it is really neat looking because...well...see for yourself:

It's got a friggin window! You can't see it, but it lights up blue too. It's really nice. Also because he got the new computer I am now the proud owner of a slightly used laptop and I am happy.

Here is Peanut with his rawhide that Santa left in his stocking.

And here is Cocoa with the toy that he stole out of his stocking that Santa brought him before he was supposed to...smarty!

Here is Grandpa D. (The one responsable for the handbag) and Gramdma B. both looking wonderful as always!

This is my cousin and my Mom with Peanut wedged in the middle.

And finally, here is Lucas cooking?!? I can't be mean, he can cook some. Yet, I thought that it was a cute picture. He was stirring soup that Mom made. How sweet!

Well, all in all we had a blessed christmas and I think the best part about it for me was finally being the wife of such a wonderful man to spend christmas and the rest of my life with.

Speaking of husbands and wives, I have to send out a big ol' CONGRATS to Ginny and Mark on their engagement! Mark asked Ginny on Christmas day...I wish you both the best.

I love you Lucas

UPDATE!

Wow...so I finally got myself back on my blog. A whole lot has happened since I last updated...infact, I now have to change the name of my blog from Marrying Superman, to Married to Superman. Yes folks...I have finally tied the knot!

Here is a pic of my new husband (Aka Superman) and me!

Well, there were about 200 people packed into our home church for our 10:00 AM wedding. The sun was shining and it was HOT! Everything went very well, and everyone was on time and nothing went wrong! Well, nothing that someone couldn't work out anyway... Most of the wedding party was Lucas family, but that's was the neat part. Every guy on his side was related to him, and one on my side was too!

Our honeymoon was in Gatlinburg, TN. We stayed at a resort called Mountain Loft thanks to our sunday school teacher who let us use his time share. It was like a mini-apartment, and honestly, I think I could live there quite easily. Everything was BEAUTIFUL and we had a wonderful time. It was in the high 90's the whole time we were there, but we found plenty to do anyway. Because of the wedding being at 10, we were able to drive straight through to Tennessee and got to our destination that evening. I think one of the funnest things that we did was go to the Ripleys Believe-it-or-not Aquarium. I have pictures on a disposable camera that when I get them developed I can put some on there. I cried when we were getting ready to leave, and I was threatening to move to tennessee...but i'm all better now.

I love being married. It is awesome! Since we didn't live together before we were married it took some time to get used to each other, but not long and not everything is working out perfectly. It's different, but with a wonderful man by my side it is totally awesome!

Hopefully I can remember to update this blog a bit more often to let everyone know what's going on with us. In the mean time here are a few more wedding pics for your enjoyment!

The kiss!

Entire wedding party - even the photographer!

What can I say...my maid-of-honor rocks!

The cake

My rings! My band is actually a wrap...it's beautimus!

Updates! Plus...who knew I could be frugal?

Well hello all you people in blogger land.

I hadn’t updated in a while and a bit has gone on, so I figured that it was about time.

To start off with we are finally under 200 days till the wedding. I can remember a time when it was over 400! To date it is 191!

2nd I guess is the big news that I picked out my bridesmaid dresses…they are beautiful. The way that the dress is made, it looks like a skirt and top, but it’s actually just one piece. It has a halter top with sparkles around the neckline. The skirt is floor length and flows out nicely. The color that I think I am going to choose will be Riviera sky which is a mix of blue, purple, and silver. I am getting them from “I Thee Wed” and the designers name is Alfred Angelo. The dresses take 3 months to ship, because they are shipped from Europe or Italy or one of them “Across the seas” places. I was also happy because I showed them to all of my bridesmaids and they all liked it!

Who knew that I could be thrifty? Read on to find out why I say this…

Last Saturday Mom and I went to AC Moore, a local craft store, and got all kinds of goodies to make favor bags. My cousin is a GENIOUS when it comes to arts and crafts, so I have assigned him the task of making the bags…somehow I don’t think he minds J

Also I wanted to get one of those boxes that you set on the table and people can drop cards in but the ones on display where like $40 dollars! My genius cousin got all the materials he needed and made me one for a lot less and I have to say that mine is gorgeous!

Savings: $20.00

I was looked at the flower girl baskets, ring bearer pillows and guest books at AC Moore and I just wasn’t feeling them (Or the prices…can you say $25 dollars EACH) so I went into Wal-mart and found a perfect set (Think crisscross wide lace) for a lot less that is prettier then anything I found at AC Moore.

Savings: $30.00

Also, I was pricing garters at AC Moore and who knew that something like that would cost so much? Certainly not me…so I went to the “Pay per yard” lace section and found what looked like garter material (For a lot mess may I add) and I am going to make my own garter…well…my cousin is going to make my garter that is…

Savings: $11.50

I also got my unity candle. I was looking all over the place for unity candle holders and when I found one they where $35 dollars! I said uuh…no! So I found a round wreath that the candle would fit in, with white roses and I found 2 smaller ones with white babies breath looking stuff and I got them to hold the candles…they look better then the candle holders did in my opinion…plus they wreaths in total where only $8 vs. $35…yea!

Savings: $27.00

I guess the final steal that I got was my veil…I cannot disclose too many details because my groom reads this blog (In fact he may be the ONLY one that reads my blog) but I got the veil at AC moore for $80 dollars less then if I had gotten it from Davids Bridal or any other bridal shops…all I have to buy is a comb to be sewn on!

Savings: $80.00

Total Savings: $195.50

I guess I can say that more them picky I am turning out to be a frugal bride…some may not agree, but this is all stuff that you need for a wedding, so it has to be bought.

Coming up soon…

Groom/groomsmen tux’s (As soon as Lucas get’s his guys together!)
Finding a house (End of February hopefully)
Getting bridesmaids fitted (SOON!)
Cabin fever trip (Feb 30th - March 4th
VA Beach trip with mom (March 30th-April 1st)
Beach week with my maid of honor (June 9th-16th)

I still love my Lucas!

Chicken Feet..

So let me tell you the story of the most memorable after school snack that I can think of.

Here was a normal day for me – Get on the bus, attend school, ride bus home, tell Mom “hello” as I headed to the kitchen for a snack.

Now…

It had been a long day at middle school, and an even longer bus trip home. I was one of the 1st on the bus (Perk – your choice of seats) meaning that I was also one of the last ones off the bus. (Yea..there is the negative)

My mother greeted me at the door with more perkiness then normal which I found a tad odd, but I figured she had just had a good day.

Mom took my backpack and put it in my room and told me to have a seat on the couch. I sat down and she said that she had a surprise for me.

WOO HOO!

What kid doesn’t love to hear that?

So I sat down and finally realized that Grandpa was there (Apparently he was there the whole time, but I hadn’t noticed up till this point)

Back to the surprise…so I asked what kind of surprise it was and Mom said that it was a special snack. I was already starting to drool..

Note: I was not a picky eater and everyone knew it…I was also not a small child what so over…I came out fat and well…nothing had changed over the years

Mom sat a tray infront of me and from the kitchen came a covered plate…

Mom sat the plate infront of me and ever so slowly pulled the cover off to reveal…

The most revolting thing that I could imagine…I was sick…my special snack was boiled chicken feet…toenails included!

I wasn’t sure what emotion I should be feeling…I think the one that surfaced the fastest was sickness.

Oh, but the story is not over there…the smell that came out from that plate was the most disgusting thing ever…boiled feet…ick!

Now, I happened to notice through the waves of nausea that Grandpa did not seem to be bothered by these feet lying on my plate. Next thing I know he’s sitting beside me. “Oh boy” he said “These things taste so good” and started eating them…1st he pulled the toenail off and then started sucking on the toe bone…at this point I was gone…I had to leave the room.

Oh, did I mention that my mother was doubled over laughing her tail off while all this was happening?

Grandpa ate the whole plate (with vinegar no less) and seemed happier then a clam.

I on the other hand had just had the most memorable experience with a snack ever.

I know that this has nothing to do with the wedding, but I thought that it might make you smile. (No, we will not be serving chicken feet at the wedding)

Christm...I mean Holiday Party

So our holiday party was last Friday (Dec 1st) at work. It was a good time and I am glad that I went.

Lucas was with me of course (He's like a mastercard - ya don't leave home with out him)

The food was good...the DJ was good (and loud)...and it was very funny watching the people that you work with dancing with one another.

My Dad's holiday party is this weekend so Mom and him are leaving Friday and my maid of honor Iva Jo is gonna hang out with me the whole weekend. I am really looking forward to getting to hang with her because we haven't hung out in a long time. Last sunday we were talking and she was naming all these good movies that she's seen and I haden't seen a single one, so we will probably spend most of the time watching movies and eating popcorn and spaghettios (2 of my favorite foods)

More exciting news - I ordered my wedding invitations Saturday...Grandpa footed the bill (love you Grandpa) and they will be in in about a week or so. I didn't know that they came in that fast...I don't really need them till June but at least this gives me some time to get all the addresses together and stuff like that.

I been working so hard on the guest list....I really want to invite more people, but the church will only hold so many...as it is I am using the balcony. The lady at the place where I ordered the invitations said that usually 75% of the people that you invite will come and with 200 give or take a few people on the list, that should be about right.

Lucas is meeting me at the gym tonight...I haven't gone in about a month, so I suppose that it's about time...

Well...I better go...

I love you Lucas

On wedding rings among other things

Well...Lucas and I got our wedding rings! *cheer*glee*jump-up-and-down-with-happiness* Mine is GORGEOUS! The picture above is not exactly it, but it's close enough. It's a "Solitare enhancer" as I was told by one lady when telling her that I was interested in a wrap...aah well...I guess as long as she knew what I meant then all is well.

So imagine the above, only in yellow gold...mmm....YES!

Lucas opted for a more traditional band which is just fine with me. It's the meaning behind it and not the look of it (Although I can't help but admitting that mine looking like that makes me very happy.

We descided that we would get each other our wedding bands for each others christmas gift...aren't we sweet?

Hey..speaking of Lucas...ya'll wish him well...he's been feeling a tad under the weather this week...hope you feel better Lucas!

And...speaking of weather...the weather in VA is icky yuck! It is raining so hard that I feel like I should go build an ark! (I kid...nothing offensive meant there)

Well, tomorrow is thanksgiving...the day that we give thanks for all the good things in our lives. I think that no matter what your situation, you can find something to give thanks for. I have a LOT to give thanks for. I know that my father for one will be giving thanks for all of Grandmas great food that we will be consuming tomorrow and for that extra hole in his belt so that it can be loosened when she brings out dessert! I think I am supposed to go with Lucas to his Grandmas for a while tomorrow so that should be nice too...he missed going there last year to be with me at my Grandmas so I want him to be able to go this year.

My cousins Mark and Erin will be down for thanksgiving and I will be able to ask them if I can use their kids (Mikayla and Gabe) in the wedding for the flower girl and ring bearer...I think it will cause much happiness when I ask (or at least I hope)

Well, I suppose that I will sign off now...there is much work to do before I am off for 4 days (Wooh Hoo!)

Ya'll have a good one!
